Iphone 6s vs Iphone 6s Plus
The wait is finally over. After months of endless speculation and hype, Apple has finally unveiled the new generation of iPhones. As with all major Smartphone releases, critics and users have all voiced their varied opinions regarding the new handsets making it difficult to tell them apart. This comparison review will pit the iphone 6s versus the iPhone 6s plus in a bid to clearly outline their differences as well as their individual pros and cons.
Both devices have an identical exterior to their predecessors however Apple has added a new color scheme, Rose Gold, which has been dubbed ‘revolutionary’ by design enthusiasts. Other than that both phones have a series 7000 anodized aluminum frame that is still top of its class. The iPhone 6s plus does feel more slippery when held though.
The iPhone 6s plus is the larger and heavier of the two devices. It weighs 192 grams compared to the 143 gram iPhone 6s. The display is also very evidently larger coming in at 5.5 inches compared to the smaller iPhone 6s which comes in at 4.7 inches. The iPhone 6s plus’ larger frame makes it less preferable when it comes to making phone calls and putting in your pocket while it’s larger display makes it more ideal for consuming multimedia, texting and reading.
The display of the iPhone 6s plus is also more impressive than that of its smaller counterpart. The 4.7 inch iPhone 6s display comes with a resolution of 1334 x 750 ultimately setting in at 326 ppi (pixels per inch) while the larger 5.5 inch display on the iPhone 6s plus has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 setting in at 401 ppi. This basically means that the smaller iPhone has display quality equivalent to a 4k ‘Ultra HD’ TV while the larger one is more than 4K. The contrast is sharper on the iPhone 6s but you can barely tell the difference in real-life usage.
The iPhone 6s plus (2750 mAh) being the larger device obviously has better battery life although the smaller iPhone 6s (1715 mAh) is also quite impressive. Both devices boast of over 24 hrs of standby time, 11 hours of video streaming and 10 hours of browsing. The power on both phones is equally good and shouldn’t make for a significant difference.
This is one of the stellar improvements to the new iphone line. Both devices have a A9 64-bit dual-core processor boasting of up to 1.84GHz and an impressive PowerVR GT7600 GPU all backed up by an improved 2GB RAM. That’s power some laptops don’t have inside a Smartphone. Both devices have stellar performance.
For all you photographers, cinematographers and general imaging enthusiasts the new iPhone 6s plus and iPhone 6s will definitely interest you. The both have a 12 megapixel main camera as well as a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera. Both devices also boast of Apple’s state of the art dual LED ‘True Tone’ flash and a new image processing software that enables you to compress images with more freedom than before. Shooting 4K videos will also be possible on either device.
The two phones are ideally the same. The major difference that one should consider before purchase should be whether they will spend a bit more for the larger iPhone 6s plus which is optimized for media consumption. Other than that the iPhone 6s plus is just a larger clone of the iPhone 6s.
