As expected, the second version of this popular sport German car is a meticulous and studied evolution of the original R8. Still a lighter, dynamic rear-wheel drive but and of course, fast.
Audi will offer two versions of its V10 engine : the model standard of 532cv and stop ‘V10 plus’ range of 602cv . The Audi R8 weighs 1454 kg, 50 kg less than the previous model thanks to its variable all-wheel drive traction, the V10 Plus can reach 0 to 100 km in 3.2 s with a top speed of 330 km / h . Ulrich Hackenberg , one of those responsible for the technological development of the German firm said that “the new R8 V10 Plus is the most powerful and fastest production car Audi has ever created”.
But what interests us most about technology publications is that the new Audi R8 will also be manufactured with a fully electric motor called by the German manufacturer e-tron model that will only be sold upon request.
The new Audi R8 ‘e-tron’ has an acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 3.9 s , somewhat slower than the V10 petrol model and the Tesla Model S P85D that manages to do so in 3.2 s, but still a spectacular figure. The sport has a T-shaped battery with a capacity of 92 kWh , much bigger than the previous model ‘e-tron’ of 49 kWh and even the Tesla Model S P85D with 85 kWh battery.
This high capacity battery provides as Audi, a range of nearly 450 miles on a single charge . A full charge will take place in less than two hours , a more accurate figure.
Audi R8 want that new ‘e-tron’ is their mobile laboratory tests of high technologies that are coming in the automotive industry. Still, if you have the money and do not mind waiting, Audi will be happy to manufacture an electric model of its new R8.
